(so in typical diego fashion he's been here for about five minutes and is already in over his head. but he should at the very least....talk to allison about it. she can help him with this ruse and...she deserves to know what's at risk, as much as his stomach is still churning at that thought. which is why he's at her door, knocking)
[Her door opens not long after, and she greets her brother with a smile. In a lot of ways, it's still just a relief that they managed to track him down so quickly, given this is a whole world full of dangers.]
Hey.
[She then steps back to let him in.]
Come in.
[Family business best not talked about in the hallway.]
(diego hasn't been sleeping well lately with all the nightmares, but tonight's was a particularly cruel one. he hadn't thought of that moment in a while, standing there hopelessly with klaus as they cried to their mother to come down before it was too late. desperately looking through the rubble of the academy, trying to find her. needless to say he doesn't think he'll fall back to sleep. which is why he finds himself wandering the ship. the wolves are sleeping so it's just him for once.
until he spots a familiar face staring out at the sea.)
It's not the first time she's had nightmares of that night with Vanya. In the weeks, months before her voice returned, after they traveled through time, there had been glimpses of Vanya on the street, nights where the White Violin came to finish what she started, and these are no different.
But those had faded as she built a life in the sixties and grew closer to Ray. She hadn't expected them to return, on a pirate ship in a completely different world. She already hates it.
Her hand comes up absently to cover the scar on her throat when she hears Diego's voice, then relaxes when she realizes it's just her brother.]
Something like that, yeah.
[She knows she doesn't want to open this door any more than he does, but part of her thinks that maybe it'll help it go away.]
I left a vial of dreamless draught with Diego, for you. I know it's not much, but it's helped me sleep without nightmares a few times. When we're no longer on a moving ship, chased by sea monsters, I will brew more.
[ There are so many conclusions Five would have rather jumped to before the one that's staring him in the face. The constant inane updates from his brother suddenly stopped, and he hasn't been able to track him down anywhere. He's exceedingly careful about spreading his fears around after how easily they've used his family against him, so he goes to Allison's place in person to see if she's heard anything.
It's never a good sign when he knocks. She has exactly thirty-seconds to answer before he panics and blinks in to see that she hasn't gone missing too. ]
[Allison's tired, and the last thing she wants to do after getting back from dragon land is have this conversation with Five, but she knows they need to have it. She leaves her bag to the side and heads back to open the door, looking exhausted in the well traveled kind of way.
She steps to the side, and gestures for him to come in.]
( or, well, not quite midnight, but late enough in the evening, once the residents of the hotel have settled in to rest, and the ghostly workers have risen for their chores. McCoy opts to knock at Allison's door, a bottle of plum wine and a couple glasses in tow. )
[Allison is surprised to find Bones at her door in the middle of the night, but the second she sees that he's come bearing booze, her face lightens and she steps back to let him in.]
[... That could be a lot of different people for a lot of different reasons, and while she doesn't want to feed into paranoia the way her brother has, she feels it's worth asking:]
Hello! I'm the Doctor. We haven't met properly. Shame of it, oversight on my part. Properly amended now!
You've spoken recently with a charming fellow called Nacho, I believe? He told me he'd passed along some information after speaking recently with Eles. Thought perhaps she'd be willing to make a deal for the "right price," evidently. I wondered if any of that sounds familiar and if you've chatted with any of them at all yet yourself?
apologies for the delay on this, it has been a week(tm)
Shortly after they arrive to Yancai and memories are returned, Emilia wastes no time in inviting Allison over for dinner. She misses their conversations over a glass of wine and a board full of what cheese and meats they could procure. There's plenty for them to catch up on besides, but then — is that not always true?
This world is relentless, and so is hers. So is Allison's.
They need some respite from the madness, and Emilia finds solace in the kitchen. The house she and Wrath were assigned to is far from ideal, but it does have a charming dough box that's helped her make many a crusty bread for her house mates. Tonight, she uses it to make what Allison calls a New York pizza.
Emilia is more familiar with sfincione, but the end result is the same: there is bread, there is cheese, and it is delicious. She thinks she can blend their ideas of the two and make this work.
She seems at peace as she stirs her tomato passata, Emilia. ... Until the toads start with their croaking, that is. "Please ignore them," she says with an apologetic sigh, tapping into her (barely there) patience.
Allison smirks at the croaking chorus, glancing out the window to see if she can try and see them. The promise of pizza is an enticing one - as much as she enjoys Emilia's food, there's something about good old fashioned New York pizza that makes her mouth water and think of home. She doesn't think Emilia's version will be a perfect dupe, but it already smells delicious.
It's too dark to make out any of the individual frogs, but the croaks continue to serenade as Allison glances away to take another sip of her wine.
[The concept of ghosts is weird and freaky to Kamala. They're still unknown in a world where many strange and wonderful things are known. Now they are very hurtful evidently. She knows she shouldn't take it personally. Those freaky little kids don't actually know her. What they say leaves a mark anyways. Like any kid with hurt feelings, she runs to the adult she trusts most to validate her after a long cry session.
It doesn't take terribly long to locate Allison considering the first thing she did on arrival was check to see who lived where out of her favorite people. She pops up red-eyed and sniffles like a very tiny jump scare.] Do you think I'm bad?
[ Five was in the middle of figuring out how to handle Matthias (and the piece of Matthias he carries) when he received a message from a place he briefly visited shortly after their arrival. At first he ignored it, but he hasn't been willing to throw it away.
Coming to Allison ends up being his second choice after Ben. He'd like to get Wrath's take, but he has a feeling he already knows what he'll say and it'll only worsen his opinion for asking. He's still deciding how he'll approach it with his sister when he appears, in a flash of light and an unfortunate splash in a puddle.
(Ignore that part, Five's learned to.) ]
There you are. [ He looks her over briefly, scrutinizing over her the way she must be used to by now, before nodding like he's psyching himself up. ] We've got a situation. Might want to take a seat.
[Allison wants to say something about the flash of light and the puddle, but he immediately distracts her by having a reason to be here, so she'll just file it away to come back to later.]
[ He's talked some of this over with Five, but Ben realizes he needs to reach out to the one of them with real world experience! Of course, sister! It brings him odd joy to just type on a device and be able to talk to one of his siblings. ]
Allison, realized I need a job. I've never had one before, though. Trying to figure out where to start. You got any pointers?
[ ooc: I was trying to find a more suitable place, but this was all I found. Please redirect me if I missed where I toss this. Also, apologies for the lateness. I ended up ill over the weekend, of course. ]
[It's true that Allison would be the person to ask for this - had she not probably used her powers to get out of the lower jobs no one wants to do. But she can help him figure this out, probably.]
Well, first things first: what do you NOT want to do?

Yeah, Nacho reached out. We hadn't settled on how to best approach this yet, but he said you needed someone who knew how to talk to people?
[Maybe, occasionally, tell them what to do? Though she and Nacho hadn't discussed things that far.]
What'd you have in mind?
